Meet Our Team
Founder and Managing Director
Job Capital was Jo Burston’s first business as a serial entrepreneur, one which she successfully grew from scratch in 2006. Her sales confidence, business nous and head for numbers and tech have seen the business grow year on year into what is now one of the most trusted and reliable names in labour hire in Australia.
Jo is an active mentor, supporting others to follow their business dreams. She is also a respected speaker and government advisor on entrepreneurship and a champion for women in business. Jo was the 2015 regional Oceania ambassador for the UN-recognised Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and is currently or has previously been on the boards of:
• Lamborghini Female Advisory Board
• University of Sydney Business School.
• University of Sydney Innovation and Entrepreneur Advisory Group.
• Victorian Government startup and innovation initiative – LaunchVIC.
• TEDx curatorial advisory panel
• Entrepreneurs Organisation board (learning chair and strategic alliance chair over 6 years)
Believing that a business’ success is also measured by its positive impact, in 2014 Jo took her passion for supporting women entrepreneurs and founded social impact business Inspiring Rare Birds that provides them with mentoring, education, inspiration and support. In 2018, the mentoring program was recognised by the Australian Government for its contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality and Rare Birds was named in Westpac’s Businesses of Tomorrow. The mentoring program has now been expanded to also offer clear leadership pathways and support for women within a corporate setting.
Jo is also creating the entrepreneurs of the future with her startup.business in-curriculum learning in action programs that are teaching secondary school students how to see, think, be and do like an entrepreneur. This program has also been recognised for its contribution to the SDG 4: Quality Education.
Job Capital Value: We do what we say we do.
